Following a timely onset of seasonal rains in the southern part of the country, planting of the 2025 main season maize crop was completed in April and harvesting operations are expected to start in August. In the north, planting of millet, sorghum, and rice is underway. Cumulative rainfall in the last month was average to slightly-above average benefiting crop establishment. However, crop and rangeland conditions are below-average in most regions of the country. Particularly affected are the regions of Northern, Upper West and Brong Ahafo, where 40%-60% of active crop area and 25%-30% of active rangeland area are being affected by a greenness anomaly.
