Haiti

May 2025
Maize (main) is in the vegetation stage. Rice (main) is in the sowing stage. Rainfall has been normal across the country in the last month. Overall vegetation conditions across croplands are average, except in the Sud-Est department where poor vegetation conditions are observed in nearly 30% of total cropland. This could be explained by delays in sowing caused by heavy rainfall that occurred in the Sud-Est in mid-April, when the main maize season normally starts. It is estimated that 5.5 million people (about 50% of the population) experienced high levels of acute food insecurity in May (IPC TWG Haiti).
